Armadillo Guide

Brush an armadillo, get a scute, protect your wolf.

An armadillo scute surrounded by a brush, a spider eye, wolf armour and an armadillo spawn egg on sand
Quick answer
  • Armadillos live in savannas and badlands.
  • Use a Brush on one to get an Armadillo scute. They also drop one every 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Breed them with Spider eye items.

Armadillos are shy little mobs added in Java 1.20.5. Their scutes are what you need for wolf armour.

Where to find them

Look in savannas, savanna plateaus, windswept savannas and all types of badlands.

Getting scutes

  1. Walk up slowly. Sprinting near an armadillo makes it roll up.
  2. Use a brush on it. A scute drops.
  3. Or just wait. Each armadillo drops a scute every 5 to 10 minutes on its own.

Breeding

Feed spider eyes to two armadillos to breed them. A small pen of armadillos gives you a steady supply of scutes without any brushing.

Wolf armour

Craft scutes into Wolf armor for your tamed wolf. Repair it with more scutes.

Spider repellentSpiders and cave spiders keep away from armadillos that aren't rolled up.
