Honey Block Guide

Stick to walls, slow down mobs, soften falls.

A honey block surrounded by a honey bottle, a glass bottle, a sticky piston and a slime block
Quick answer
  • Craft a Honey block from 4 honey bottles.
  • It slows you down, stops you jumping high and cuts fall damage.
  • Pistons move blocks stuck to it, like slime blocks.

Honey blocks are sticky. They're useful for redstone, parkour and mob traps.

Crafting

Use a glass bottle on a full beehive to get a Honey bottle. Put 4 in a crafting grid for a honey block. Craft it back with 4 glass bottles to get the honey back.

Calm the beesPut a campfire under the hive first so the bees don't attack.

Walking on it

  • You walk slowly and can barely jump.
  • Landing on it cuts fall damage a lot.
  • Jump at the side of one and you slide down slowly.

With pistons

A piston that moves a honey block also moves the blocks stuck to it, up to 12. Honey doesn't stick to slime blocks, so you can put them side by side to move two separate groups.

Flying machinesHoney and slime next to each other is the trick behind most flying machines.
