- Follow a
buried treasure map to the X. - The chest is usually under sand or gravel on a beach.
- Every treasure chest has a
Heart of the sea, the only way to get one.
Buried treasure is the only source of the heart of the sea, which you need for a conduit. It also comes with ingots, emeralds and sometimes diamonds.
Getting a map
Buried treasure maps turn up in the map chests of shipwrecks and in ocean ruin chests. Open the map and follow it towards the red X.
Digging it up
- Walk until you're standing right on the X.
- Dig down with a shovel. The chest is usually under sand or gravel.
- If you don't hit it, dig out a few blocks around you.
Java tipOn Java, the chest is always at position 9 on both X and Z inside its chunk. Turn on chunk borders with F3 + G to find the exact spot.
Bedrock tipOn Bedrock, buried treasure is much more common, and the chest sits at position 8 in the chunk instead.
What's inside
- A
heart of the sea, every time. - Iron and gold ingots, emeralds and sometimes diamonds.
- Prismarine crystals, cooked fish, TNT and weapons.
Next step
Combine the heart of the sea with 8 nautilus shells to craft a conduit for breathing underwater.
