A clay ball surrounded by a clay block, a brick, terracotta and a wooden shovel on clay
Quick answer
  • Find Clay under shallow water in rivers, lakes and swamps, and in lush caves.
  • Each clay block drops 4 clay balls. Use a shovel.
  • Mud placed above pointed dripstone slowly turns into clay.

Clay gives you bricks and terracotta, two of the best building blocks in the game.
