How to Get the Mace

The harder you fall, the harder it hits.

A mace surrounded by a heavy core, a breeze rod, a wind charge and an enchanted book on tuff bricks
Quick answer
  • Craft the Mace from a Heavy core and a Breeze rod.
  • Both come from trial chambers. The heavy core is a 7.5% drop from ominous vaults.
  • Hit something while falling for a smash attack that gets stronger the further you fall.

The mace is the strongest weapon in Minecraft if you can get some height. Here's how to get one and how its damage works.

Getting the parts

  1. Find a trial chamber and kill breezes for breeze rods.
  2. Drink an ominous bottle and beat the ominous trial spawners for ominous trial keys.
  3. Open ominous vaults until one gives you a heavy core.
  4. Craft the heavy core and breeze rod together.

Smash attack damage

A normal hit does 6 damage. Fall at least a couple of blocks first and you get bonus damage for each block fallen:

First 3+4
Next 5+2
Every block after+1

Landing a smash attack also cancels your fall damage.

Mace enchantments

  • Density: more smash damage for every block fallen.
  • Breach: cuts through the target's armour.
  • Wind Burst: bounces you back up after a smash, so you can chain hits.
