Mob Heads Guide

Charged creepers are the key to almost every head.

A creeper head with a zombie head, a skeleton skull, a piglin head and a dragon head
Quick answer
  • Most heads drop when a charged creeper blows up that mob.
  • Wither skeleton skull items drop normally, 2.5% of the time.
  • The Dragon head sits on the bow of end ships.

Mob heads are decorations you can wear or place. Most of them take a bit of setup to get.

Charged creepers

A creeper hit by lightning becomes charged. When it explodes, any zombie, skeleton, creeper or piglin it kills drops its head. Only one head drops per explosion.

Using heads

  • Wear one as a helmet. A mob's head halves how far that mob notices you.
  • Put one on a Note block and it plays that mob's sound (Java).
  • Dragon and piglin heads move when powered by redstone.
