- There are 22 music discs.
- Most drop when a skeleton kills a creeper.
- The rest come from dungeons, ancient cities, bastions, trail ruins and trial chambers.
Collecting every music disc is a great long-term goal. Some are easy, and some need you to visit the most dangerous places in the game.
The creeper trick
When a creeper is killed by a skeleton, stray, bogged or parched, it drops one of 12 discs: 13, cat, blocks, chirp, far, mall, mellohi, stal, strad, ward, 11 and wait.
The rare ones
| Disc | Where |
|---|---|
| Dungeon, stronghold and ancient city chests | |
| Craft from 9 disc fragments found in ancient cities | |
| Bastion remnant chests | |
| Brushing trail ruins | |
| Trial chamber vaults | |
| Ominous vaults | |
| Decorated pots in trial chambers | |
| A ghast killed by its own fireball | |
| A chicken jockey, if the zombie dies before the chicken | |
| Chest minecarts in sulfur cave mineshafts |
The 13 and cat discs can also turn up in dungeon and ancient city chests.
Redstone trick
A comparator next to a jukebox gives a different signal strength for each disc, from 1 for 13 up to 15 for disc 5. Use it to build a disc-powered door or a sorter.
