Finding one
Buy an ocean explorer map from a cartographer villager. Or sail across deep oceans at night and look for the glow of sea lanterns.
What to bring
- Potions of Water Breathing.
- Boots with Depth Strider and a helmet with Respiration.

Beating the elder guardians
Elder guardians give you Mining Fatigue III, so you can barely break blocks. Find and kill all three: one at the top, and one in each wing.

Mine the coreOnce the elders are dead, break into the middle of the monument for the 8 gold blocks.
Sponges
Elder guardians drop wet sponges, and some rooms are full of them. Smelt wet sponges to dry them, then use them to soak up water.
Clear it outUse sponges to drain the monument and turn it into an underwater base. Monuments are also the only renewable source of prismarine and sea lanterns.
