Turtle Guide

Seagrass, a sandy beach and a little patience.

A turtle shell surrounded by turtle eggs, a turtle scute, seagrass and a water bucket on sand
Quick answer
  • Breed turtles with Seagrass. One goes home to its beach to lay eggs.
  • Eggs take about 4 to 5 days to hatch, and only on sand.
  • Each baby drops a Turtle scute when it grows up. Use scutes for a Turtle shell.

Turtles are slow, but their scutes make the turtle shell helmet, which helps you breathe underwater.

Breeding

  1. Collect seagrass with shears.
  2. Feed it to two turtles.
  3. One turtle swims back to the beach where it hatched and lays 1 to 4 eggs.
Home beachTurtles always lay eggs on their own home beach. If you move turtles, they still go back there.

Protecting eggs

4 to 5days to hatch
1 to 4eggs per clutch

Eggs crack faster at night and only hatch on sand. Zombies love to trample them, so fence the beach and light it up.

Don't jump on themWalking on turtle eggs can break them too. Be careful around the nest.

Scutes

When a baby turtle grows up, it drops 1 turtle scute. Collect enough and craft a turtle shell helmet.
