- Place a job site block near an unemployed villager and it takes that job.
- Before you trade, you can break the block to reset its job and trades.
- After your first trade, the villager keeps that job forever.
Villagers are the best way to get Mending, cheap diamond gear and endless emeralds. It all starts with giving them the right job.

Nitwits never workVillagers in green robes are nitwits. They can't take any job, so don't waste a job block on them.
Rerolling trades
Don't like a villager's trades? As long as you haven't traded with it yet:
- Break its job site block. It loses its job.
- Place the block back down. It takes the job again with new trades.
- Repeat until you get what you want, then trade once to lock it in.
This is how players hunt for a Mending librarian. Want to know how many rerolls it might take?
Levelling up
Trading gives villagers XP. Each level unlocks new trades:
5levels: Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Master
2×restocks a day, if they can reach their job block
Build a trading hallKeep each villager in its own cell next to its job block so it always restocks and can't wander off.
