Minecraft Slime Chunk Finder
About 1 chunk in 10 is a slime chunk, decided by your world seed. This tool finds the biggest group of them around any spot.
Type your Java Edition seed, pick a centre and a radius, and this finder searches for the biggest block of slime chunks around you: a solid square, a solid rectangle or a connected group. Set a huge radius and it hunts for a solid 3×3, which turns up about once in a billion chunks.

How to use the Slime Chunk Finder
- Type your world seed. In your world, type /seed in chat. Text seeds work too.
- Set the centre (your base is a good start) and a radius in blocks. Up to 32,000 blocks gives the full result: biggest square, rectangle and connected group.
- For a bigger radius, choose the solid square to hunt (2×2, 3×3 or 4×4). The 300,000 block preset is the one for a 3×3.
- Open a result on the map, then copy a /tp command to go and look. Drag the map to explore and use the buttons to zoom.
FAQ
How do I find my world seed?
In your world, open chat and type /seed. On a server, ask an admin. The seed is a number, and text seeds work too.
Does this work on Bedrock Edition?
No. Bedrock picks slime chunks a different way, so this finder is for Java Edition only.
Can I find a 3×3 of slime chunks?
Sometimes. A solid 3×3 turns up about once in a billion chunks, so you need to search roughly 250,000 blocks out from your centre to expect one. Use the 300,000 block preset. A solid 4×4 is so rare that it almost never exists in any seed.
How does the game decide which chunks are slime chunks?
It feeds your world seed and the chunk's coordinates into a random number generator, and about 1 chunk in 10 comes out as a slime chunk. This finder runs the same calculation, checked against the real Java code.
Where do slimes spawn?
In slime chunks they spawn below Y 40, at any light level. Swamps and mangrove swamps also spawn slimes between Y 51 and 69 in low light, in any chunk.
What is the difference between a square, a rectangle and a connected group?
A square or rectangle has a slime chunk in every spot. A connected group is any set of slime chunks that touch, so it can be a wiggly shape. A group is usually bigger than a square, but a solid block is easier to build a farm over.
How do I turn block coordinates into a chunk?
A chunk is 16 × 16 blocks. Divide a block coordinate by 16 and round down. The converter at the bottom of the tool does it for you and shows the region file too.
Is my seed sent anywhere?
No. The whole search runs in your browser. Your seed only leaves your device if you copy a share link and send it to someone.
