Pale Garden and the Creaking

You can't hurt it. You have to break its heart.

A creaking heart surrounded by a resin clump, an open eyeblossom, a pale oak log and a resin brick on pale oak planks
Quick answer
  • At night, a Creaking heart in a pale oak tree spawns a creaking.
  • The creaking only moves when nobody is looking at it.
  • Hitting it doesn't hurt it. Break its heart to kill it.

Pale gardens are spooky grey forests, added in The Garden Awakens drop. They're home to the creaking, a mob that works like nothing else.

Finding the heart

The creaking heart sits inside the trunk of a pale oak tree, between two Pale oak log blocks. It looks like a log with glowing orange eyes at night.

How the creaking works

  • It spawns from its heart at night.
  • It freezes while you look at it, and moves when you look away.
  • Normal hits don't hurt it.
  1. Keep the creaking in view as you move.
  2. Find the tree with the creaking heart nearby.
  3. Break the heart. The creaking crumbles.
Don't turn your backWalk backwards while you search, so you can always see it.

Resin

Hitting the creaking at night makes Resin clump items grow on the pale oak logs near its heart. Smelt resin into Resin brick items for orange brick builds.

Resin farmLeave the heart in place and keep hitting the creaking to farm resin.

Eyeblossoms

Pale gardens also grow eyeblossoms, flowers that open at night and close in the day.

Cheat sheet

  • Creaking spawns at night from its heart
  • Only moves when not watched
  • Break the creaking heart to kill it
  • Hit it to grow resin
