- Water bottle +
nether wart = awkward potion, the base for almost everything. - Add one ingredient for the effect, e.g.
magma cream for Fire Resistance.
Redstone = longer,
glowstone = stronger,
gunpowder = splash.
Brewing looks complicated, but every potion follows the same 3 steps. Learn the pattern once and you can make anything.
What you need
- A
brewing stand (3 cobblestone + 1 blaze rod).
Blaze powder to fuel it. One powder lasts 20 brews.
Glass bottles filled with water from a cauldron or any water source.
Nether wart, from Nether fortresses. Plant it on soul sand to farm it.
3potions per brew
20sper brew
20brews from 1 blaze powder
The 3-step pattern
- Put up to 3
water bottles in the bottom slots and
nether wart on top. You get awkward potions. - Add the effect ingredient (see the table below).
- Optional: add a modifier to make it longer, stronger or throwable.
Ingredients for the best potions
| Potion | Add to awkward potion |
|---|---|
| Fire Resistance | |
| Strength | |
| Swiftness | |
| Healing | |
| Regeneration | |
| Night Vision | |
| Water Breathing | |
| Slow Falling | |
| Turtle Master | Turtle shell |
| Invisibility | Night Vision potion + fermented spider eye |
Modifiers
| Add | What it does |
|---|---|
| Longer (Fire Resistance goes from 3:00 to 8:00) | |
| Stronger (level II), but shorter | |
| Corrupts it into a different, usually bad, effect | |
| Splash potion you can throw | |
| Dragon's breath | Lingering potion that leaves a cloud |
Redstone or glowstone, not bothYou pick one. Adding glowstone to an extended potion won't give you a long, strong version.
The Hardcore must-haveFire Resistance (8:00) makes you immune to fire and lava damage. Always carry a couple before going into the Nether.
